ST. GEORGE, Utah (
ABC4) — If you’re looking to jump into entrepreneurship, Utah just might be the best place to get your start.
WalletHub, a financial wellness company, recently released a study finding the best and worst small cities to start a new business. The results found four Utah cities landed in the Top 20 – three of which claimed spots in the Top 5.
St. George topped the list overall, according to the study, followed closely by Cedar City in third and Washington, Utah in fourth. Meanwhile, Midvale ranked in at a No. 12.
The study, which compared over 1,300 cities with a population between 25,000 and 100,000 on nearly two dozen metrics, found that St. George has some of the cheapest office space in the nation at about $10.73 per square foot compared to the most expensive city charges nearly $62.
“St. George residents have short commutes, too, at nearly 17 minutes on average,” WalleHub analysts said. “In addition, the city has a very high annual job growth rate. All of these factors allow entrepreneurs to minimize costs while maximizing their chances of success.”
While Washington County shined in the study, cities all across the Beehive State appeared within the Top 500 in the country. A full list of Utah cities that appeared in WalletHub’s rankings and where they ranked can be found below:
