Rockford firefighters rescued a dog from a burning apartment; 4 people displaced

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Fire crews rescued a dog from a burning residence Saturday evening.

The fire displaced two adults and two children.

Firefighters responded to 2912 Halsted Road for reports of a fire inside a building with occupants trapped inside around 7 p.m. After searches, no one was found inside the apartment complex.

Crews did find and save a dog from the building.

The fire was contained to one apartment and quickly put out, according to Rockford Fire.

No one was injured during the incident.

The Red Cross is assisting the two adults and the two children who were displaced.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental but remains under investigation.
