G-Unit growth advisor says company plans to be part of Shreveport for generations

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—According to Jackson’s camp, the agreement between Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television and the City of Shreveport requires long-range planning and could impact the city for generations.

G-Unit Growth Advisor Orville Hall says the vision promises jobs, housing, and training for future generations.

“What can people look forward to in the next 45 years that’s a whole another generation, you know,” said Ya’Lisha Gatewood.

“But that’s again, you see what you just said generations so again generations may not have seen it if they didn’t make sure those contracts right had the wording that can last for 45 years.” Orville Hall said.

Hall says the deal took some strategic maneuvering, especially regarding Stage Works and housing contracts.

“The stage work contract had tenants, and we had to figure out, 50 jumped in and helped to relocate.” Orville Hall said.

Hall says now that contracts are finalized the partnership between local leaders and Curtis “50 cent” Jackson is turning vision into reality, starting with the development contract, now getting the resources out to the people.

“What about these buildings, 20 buildings that he’s creating.

Every one of them have to be staffed and they’re all going to be a formula that New York and times square uses to entertain guests, not just weekly, but 7 days a week.” Said Orville Hall.

“What kind of opportunities can residents expect to see from this project? Said Ya’Lisha Gatewood.

“Well, think about human harmony again, right? Great we have that example. We created over 1700 jobs for four days.” Said Orville Hall.

According to Hall, the effort has already paid off.

“13,000 hotel rooms, right? What did that show? The hotels that you need to staff up when this comes because 35,000 people came the last time. Probably 100,000, no doubt,” said Hall.

The project includes more than entertainment. It also includes training youth, rebuilding neighborhoods, and giving low-income families a better shot at stability.

“We’re gonna go into the communities and help with the adjudicated properties and try to low-income families and homes and training opportunities for young people to keep them off the street,” Hall said.

Hall says this isn’t just about change, It’s about creating a legacy that lasts.

“The person that’s 1 year old now are gonna see and live in the best vibrant town in America from here to the next 45 years,” Orville Hall said.
