29-year-old woman dies after being stabbed during altercation with man in Lincoln Square late Saturday, police say

CHICAGO — A 29-year-old woman has died after being stabbed during an altercation with a 35-year-old man late Saturday night in Lincoln Square on the city’s North Side, according to Chicago police.

Police say the woman was in a physical altercation with the man around 11:30 p.m. at a residence in the 2700 block of West Balmoral Avenue when the man took out a knife, stabbed the woman in the torso and fled the scene.

The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.

Police say they do have an offender in custody, and charges are pending. Meanwhile, Area Three detectives continue to investigate the incident.
