Woman hospitalized following Central City shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A woman has been hospitalized following a shooting that occurred in the Central City area of New Orleans in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 12.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, report of the shooting, which happened in the 3700 block of Erato Street, came in around 12:30 a.m.

On scene, a woman was found with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital via New Orleans EMS.

The initial investigation shows that the woman was sitting inside of a home when a suspect began trying to kick the door in. The victim moved an object in front of the door and then the suspect reportedly began firing shots into the home, hitting the victim in the leg, before fleeing.
