LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has a new website to help Kentuckians stay informed on flood response efforts.

The site, last updated on Monday, includes current information about floods across Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee, and resources for those in need.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The page has water safety guidance and cleanup of flooded homes.

“Immediate focus has been on ensuring the safety and integrity of essential water infrastructure. EPA is in close contact with Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection (KDEP), who have reported power outages impacting wastewater and drinking water treatment plants,” the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said.

Resources from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency are both available online.

“EPA Southeast remains committed to working closely with our state partners to assess environmental impacts, address potential threats to public health, and provide technical assistance to ensure the swift and safe recovery of affected communities in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. EPA will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available,” the EPA website reads.

LATEST KENTUCKY LISTS AND RANKINGS:

On Wednesday, April 9, FEMA disaster recovery centers established after February’s flooding reopened as the Commonwealth prepares to apply for more federal aid in response to April’s tornadoes and deadly flooding.

To apply for individual assistance, visit the FEMA website. FEMA encourages people not to shy away from applying.

“I’ve seen instances where people will say, ‘Oh, well, I don’t have it as bad as the person across the street from me. I can; maybe I have the resources on my own.’ Apply anyway because there may be assistance available for you too,” Daniel Bernardy, FEMA media relations specialist, told FOX 56 News.
