The Visalia Feral Cat Coalition officials told YourCentralValley.com on Thursday that they will be hosting a Trap-Neuter-Return event to provide low-cost spay and neuter services for feral cats in collaboration with Companion Animal Medical Clinic. They say clinics like these are vital to make it affordable for the public to manage cat populations in the neighborhoods.
The nonprofit will host the event in loving memory of Winnie Chun, a woman who officials say was a “passionate animal lover,” who would help feral and abandoned cats in her neighborhood whenever she had the chance. She would team with another neighbor and work with the Visalia Feral Cat Coalition to spay and neuter these cats.
“The joy she felt knowing she had played a part in giving these cats a chance at a better life was immeasurable. Her dedication didn’t stop there; Winnie extended her efforts beyond her neighborhood, helping to care for several feral cat colonies in different areas. She treated the feral cats with the utmost respect and compassion, recognizing their dignity and worth,” reads the Winnie Chun section on the Visalia Feral Cat Coalition website.
The nonprofit has already trap-neutered-returned about 1,244 cats as of Thursday. Although sign-ups for this event are already closed, those interested in learning more about the Visalia Feral Cat Coalition and how they can help feral cats can click here.
