Portillo’s to test new breakfast menu in Chicago locations

CHICAGO — A beloved Chicago fast-food chain is breaking into breakfast.

Oak Brook-based hot dog giant Portillo’s is testing out a morning menu at five Chicago-area restaurants starting April 15.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the trial menu will offer five all-new breakfast items, including a Polish sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, a pepper, egg and cheese sandwich and a chocolate cake doughnut, topped with Portillo’s chocolate cake frosting.

Portillo’s has been teasing the news on their social media accounts, most recently posting a video of an alarm clock with the caption: “Rise and dine on April 15! More details coming soon.”
