Peaches Records gets ready for a special Record Store Day 2025

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — April 12 marks National Record Store Day and an Uptown New Orleans staple is ready to celebrate.

Peaches Records on Magazine Street will also mark its 50th year anniversary as well as musician Da Project Barbie’s aka “Peachez” record release and birthday party.

Store owners have labeled Peaches as “renowned” and a “cultural center.”

“Peaches Records is an institution and is highly regarded in the music industry and local community alike,” said store owners.” On Saturday, April 12 the entire country will be celebrating National Record Store Day at their local record store, but here at Peaches we will be doing it with our own bit of New Orleans flair; “Neighbors Taking Care of Neighbors.”

Doors will open at 9 a.m. and the event will run until 7 p.m. at 4318 Magazine St.

They say the event will be a celebration for the neighborhood and have a festival feel. There will be free trinkets for participants as a token of appreciation for the last five decades, according to store owners.

Additionally, there will be a sale of hundreds of one day only music releases including limited releases by The Meters, Ellis Marsalis, Better than Ezra, Mahalia Jackson, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Patsy Cline, Gorillaz, Sir Elton John, Peter Tosh, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, The Pixies, The Wicked Soundtrack, Harry Potter Soundtracks, Young Thug and more.

Also participating in the celebration will be local businesses providing free beer, free pizza and free snow balls.

“Peaches Records mission has always been about community, preserving the culture, preventing crime, & neighbors taking care of neighbors!! It’s been well documented throughout time that music is a great healer and events like this, free to the public, are great ways to help prevent crime and bring the community together,” said store owners.
