Officials with the school district state that due to the county being under one of the biggest flood disasters in history, the decision was made.
Officials said so many families are displaced, and the job of a school district is to look out for every child’s welfare.
“We sympathize with students and athletes not being able to participate in spring activities at this time, but the district has been advised legally not to put anyone in a situation that may cause harm. We will reevaluate next week for student activities and sports.”
Officials also said that the district is not on NTI but completely closed until further notice.
“We will resume activities once the floodwater starts to recede considerably. We will also send out a message early next week to explain when we will be able to resume our disaster NTI Days.”
