Kentucky State Police (KSP) said the investigation began after its Electronic Crime Branch discovered that images of child sexual exploitation were being shared online.
Around 6:32 p.m. on Thursday, Joseph Timothy Graves, 53, was arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material, per KSP.
According to a news release, a search warrant in Springfield led to equipment used to facilitate the alleged crime being taken and examined at a forensic lab.
Police said Graves was charged with 10 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under 12 years old and was lodged in the Washington County Detention Center.
The exploitation investigation is ongoing.
