Blockchain solutions provider WithFabric.xyz aims to streamline decentralized interactions and foster web3 engagement. In this week’s #BlockchainThursday, we’ll introduce you to a blockchain platform focused on risk modeling and simulation for DeFi protocols: Gauntlet.xyz.

Inside Gauntlet.xyz: Quantitative tools for blockchain decision-making

Gauntlet.xyz is the online home of Gauntlet, a financial modeling platform designed to improve decision-making for blockchain protocols through quantitative analysis and simulation. It aims to help decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms manage risk, optimize incentives, and understand the economic implications of governance decisions. The platform draws on methods from traditional quantitative finance and applies them to the evolving landscape of crypto markets. In March 2022, Gauntlet announced a $23.8 million Series B funding round led by Ribbit Capital, bringing its valuation to $1 billion.1

Simulation, modeling, and research designed for the evolving DeFi ecosystem

The innovative platform is designed to simulate and analyze complex blockchain systems, providing ongoing risk management insights to DeFi protocols. The infrastructure is designed to handle large volumes of data and update its models and simulations based on current market activity. Gauntlet’s services are geared toward optimizing parameters that help mitigate systemic risk, prevent insolvency, and support sustainable growth across blockchain ecosystems. The platform also publishes custom research, contributing to a broader understanding of crypto-native economics.

Leadership with roots in trading systems and large-scale engineering

Gauntlet was co-founded by Tarun Chitra and Rei Chiang. Tarun, Gauntlet’s CEO, previously worked in quantitative research at Vatic Labs and D.E. Shaw, where he focused on low-latency, high-performance trading systems. He also serves as a partner at Robot Ventures, investing in early-stage projects focused on mechanism design. Rei, Gauntlet’s CTO, brings a background in large-scale systems and real-time marketplaces from his time at Uber. There, he held senior engineering roles on both the Marketplace and Self-Driving Marketplace teams, contributing to ride-matching algorithms, dynamic pricing systems, and autonomous vehicle deployment platforms. Together, the co-founders combine experience in financial modeling and complex platform engineering.

Gauntlet.xyz: A short, memorable domain for a data-driven DeFi platform

The platform uses the domain name Gauntlet.xyz, a short and recognizable web address that aligns with its forward-looking approach. The .xyz domain extension is widely adopted by organizations working at the intersection of technology and innovation. For Gauntlet, this choice reinforces its role in helping shape the infrastructure of blockchain-based financial systems while maintaining a memorable and globally accessible online presence.
