LAPLACE, La. (WGNO) — A man was arrested on Thursday in connection to a LaPlace shooting investigation that began on Wednesday night.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, on April 9, around 8:25 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting incident on Richmond drive. On scene, a 26-year-old man was found having been shot several times. He has since been taken to a New Orleans hospital where he is reportedly in critical condition.
Officials say the victim was reportedly in a physical altercation with a suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Keenon Alexander. During the altercation, Alexander allegedly pulled a handgun and shot the victim multiple times before fleeing on foot.
After being identified in connection with the case, Alexander was arrested at his home around 4 a.m. on April 10. He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm/carry of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon (felony,) contempt of court (felony) and contempt of court (misdemeanor.)
