No, not Seiya, you silly goose.
This is the limited edition “Wrigley Goose” bobblehead, unveiled Thursday morning by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum,
So, what’s the story?
Well, as the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum explains in its unveiling, during the Cubs’ 2025 home-opening series against the San Diego Padres from April 4-6, a Canadian goose made itself at home with the rest of the “bleacher bums” at Wrigley Field by nesting in a planter box in the right-center bleachers, underneath the iconic scoreboard.
The goose, soon named “Suzuki,” was noticed at the home opener on Friday, April 4, leading to the creation of the special section the following day. To protect their newest feathered fan, the Cubs blocked off several rows of the upper bleachers Sunday near “Suzuki” (again, the goose, not the outfielder).
The “Wrigley Goose” quickly became a viral sensation and received media attention around the country. After Sunday’s game, the bird left the 111-year-old stadium, and fans were once again allowed to sit in the previously closed section as the Cubs hosted the Texas Rangers in a three-game series this week to wrap up the season-opening homestand.
WGN News did a story on Wrigley Field’s feathered sensation that you can check out HERE.
So, what does the “Wrigley Goose” bobblehead look like?
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum says it’s 7 inches tall and is positioned in a green planter box with “WRIGLEY GOOSE” painted across the front and its black-and-white head poking out from the green shrubbery. The backing of the base includes a replica of a chain-link fence.
The bobbleheads, which will be individually numbered, are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. They cost $35 each, plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum says the “Wrigley Goose” bobbleheads are expected to ship in October.
“We’re excited to unveil the first bobblehead featuring the ‘Wrigley Goose,'” Phil Sklar, National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO, said in the release. “This bobblehead will be the perfect way for fans to commemorate the ‘Wrigley Goose!'”
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, located at 170 South 1st Street in Milwaukee, opened on Feb. 1, 2019.
