Rockford man accused of strangling woman after attempting to stop her from recording him

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Christopher Keller, 24, for allegedly strangling a woman after she recorded an argument.

On April 8, around 12:30 p.m., authorities were called to the 300 block of North 6th Street for reports of domestic violence.

The woman told officers she and Keller had been arguing for two hours. The argument stemmed from the victim not going to get the mail, according to court records.

The woman told police that Keller pinned her down and strangled her.

The victim had a video of the suspect aggressively approaching her after the argument, court documents show.

Keller told authorities he attempted to grab her phone but accidentally grabbed the woman’s neck.

Keller is charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery causing strangulation.

He was granted pretrial release on April 9th.
