Rayfield, joined by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, will hold the event at the University Place Hotel Downtown on the Portland State University campus.
The town hall is one of a series of similar events across Oregon, with the Portland stop marking Rayfield’s 100th day in office.
On Wednesday night, Rayfield held a town hall in Eugene at the University of Oregon campus with guest Oregon’s Democratic House Speaker Julie Fahey. A third event is slated for May 3 in Bend, but the location and guest have yet to be determined.
The town halls have been addressing the local impacts of federal worker mass layoffs and $12 billion in cuts from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“This is not just a political issue—this is a human issue,” Rayfield said in a statement. “It’s about people’s livelihoods, their homes and their futures. Federal employees are the backbone of our communities, and they are now scrambling to make ends meet. These town halls help us connect the dots and use this public testimony when our teams are working on litigation to block these orders in the courts.”
Last month, Rayfield traveled to Arizona and co-hosted a similar forum with Mayes.
“These reckless DOGE firings and arbitrary cuts to critical federal services are outrageous, unacceptable, and deeply infuriating,” added Mayes.
The Portland town hall will include a panel of speakers impacted by everything from cuts to food assistance programs, public health and safety, as well as fired federal workers. Speakers also include veterans, members of the LGBTQ community and a TSA worker.
The forum, which includes a public testimony portion for those in attendance, is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
