Man sentenced for Rainbow Hotel double homicide

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was convicted in connection to the double homicide that occurred at the Rainbow Hotel in Jackson three years ago.

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced Jermaine White was found guilty on two counts of murder and one count of felony possession of a firearm.

The shooting occurred at the Rainbow Hotel on Medgar Evers Boulevard on January 23, 2022. Police said Kiara Poole and Samantha Cannon were fatally shot at the location.

Investigators determined that White “acted with deliberate intent” when he killed the two women.

According to Owens, White was sentenced to life in prison for the two murder counts, as well as an additional 10 years for felony possession of a firearm.
