Jazzy Davidson preps to play final high school games in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Jazzy Davidson has had a lot of absent days at Clackamas High School the past few weeks.

“Not much,” said Davidson, with a laugh about how many school days she has attended.

The five-star recruit has been in a whirlwind ever since the state championship game, which Clackamas lost to Tualatin.

It started with a trip to USC to see her future team host the NCAA Tournament, continued with the McDonald’s All-American game, and now ends this weekend at the Nike Hoop Summit and Northwest Shootout All-Star Game.

“It’s been amazing,” said Davidson of the experience. “All of these events are things I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a little girl, so it’s really cool to be here and be with all of my friends.”

This is the last weekend you could see Davidson play in Portland for at least a few years.

The next potential time you could see the Clackamas forward play in the Rose City could either be in 2027 if Nike decides to host a PK90 event and USC is involved, or in 2028 if USC makes the NCAA women’s regional in Portland that year.

“I haven’t really thought about it, but it’s crazy to think about,” said Davidson of playing her final games in Portland for the foreseeable future. “I’ve grown up around an amazing community, and they’ve supported me throughout all these years, so it’s really cool to be able to play in my hometown for one last time.”

As for where she heads next, there’s been a lot of movement at USC over the last few weeks.

Juju Watkins’ ACL tear will most likely keep her out for the entirety of next season and two of the Trojans’ talented freshmen guards hit the transfer portal.

“I really don’t know, but whatever they need me to do to win, I’m happy to do it,” said Davidson about what her potentially expanded role for USC could look like. “A lot of changes, a completely different team, but I’m just super excited for this upcoming year and for the opportunity.”

But that’s in the future.

For now, she gets to rep Team USA in her hometown— something that hardly any kids accomplish in their high school career.

“It’s really surreal. I feel like it’s something that not everybody gets to do obviously, so it’s a super special opportunity, and I’m definitely not taking it for granted,” said Davidson.

Davidson and Team USA will play Team World on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Moda Center. The boys’ game will follow at 7 p.m. The Northwest Shootout girls’ game tips off at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus gym.
