Some central Pennsylvania watershed projects get funding
(WHTM) –Funding is going toward projects that are aiming to grow watersheds in the central Pennsylvania area.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced that $75,000 is going towards five projects in Lancaster and York counties.
Donegal Chapter Trout Unlimited, Donegal Creek Stream Restoration – Project looks to restore part of the Donegal Creek in East Donegal Township, Lancaster County.
New Freedom Borough, South Branch Headwater Restoration – Stream restoration project in the South Branch of Codorus Creek in York County.
Watershed Alliance of York, Beaver Creek Stream Restoration – Large-scale stream restoration and dam removal in Paradise Township, York County.
Watershed Alliance of York, Unnamed Tributary to Codorus Creek Stream Restoration – About 10 acres of floodplain and two tributaries to Codorus Creek in York County.
Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Vernal Pool Creation and Restoration for Wildlife and Watershed Health – Restore and enlarge vernal pool wetlands in Gifford Pinchot State Park in York County.
The funding for the five projects comes from York and Lancaster Counties Habitat Improvement Grant Program. The funds for the program come from Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station and the Muddy Run Pumped Storage Project.
