‘Shop in store only’: JOANN issues warning of fake online websites

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — As JOANN continues to close its doors after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the fabric and crafting retailer issued a warning of fake websites using the company’s name.

In a statement under the company’s frequently asked questions, it said JOANN disabled all online purchases on its websites as of March 5, and there are no other authorized JOANN shopping websites. However, the company has received multiple reports of websites imitating JOANN as clearance outlets.

“Please shop in-store only,” the company said in a social media post. “Joann.com is available to browse our catalog and find your closest store, but there is no online shopping available during our liquidation. Beware of fraudulent websites!”

JOANN asked customers to report any fraudulent websites to them by emailing customer.service@joann.com and the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

JOANN has already begun closing its roughly 800 stores nationwide – including 14 in the Beehive State. The company said the process could take a “number of weeks.” The company began its going-out-of-business sale at all locations in March, offering deep discounts to help offload products.
