New Orleans school placed on short lockdown due to gun scare
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department responded Tuesday, April 8 to the scene of a lockdown at an area school.

According to the NOPD, around 11 a.m. officers responded to ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron Academy after a man reportedly ran inside the school claiming to have a medical emergency.

School officials told officers that the man sat down in the foyer of the school, took out a gun but set it down. Staff members reportedly spotted the gun and call 911 but the subject ran off, entering a classroom.

A “hard lockdown” of the campus was initiated.

The subject was apprehended by staff members until police arrived and took him into custody.
