In an announcement from Governor Mike Braun, the initiative hopes to establish a state-based nuclear working group with stakeholders, by establishing the community’s need for education in relation to nuclear energy. The hope with the retreat is to establish education resources, a statewide engagement strategy and measure economic development potential.
“Indiana is uniquely positioned to be a national leader in nuclear energy, and this opportunity will help to inform and accelerate our strategy and focus,” said Indiana Governor Mike Braun. “Collaboration is essential to ensuring reliability, affordability, economic growth, and sustainability for Hoosiers.”
The long-term hope of the retreat is to build a positive and informed advanced nuclear environment throughout the state and supporting Indiana’s strong economy and workforce.
“Indiana has all the tools necessary to build advanced nuclear,” Braun said. “Education and outreach are needed to ensure stakeholders are well-informed about technology, jobs, and the long-term benefits of nuclear energy.”
Specific dates for the retreat are expected to come out in the next few weeks.
