Bomb Squad wins Bayou Regional championship

Mountain Home’s high school robotics team was crowned the Bayou Regional champions over the weekend. FRC Team 16, also known as the Bomb Squad, won the competition held Wednesday through Saturday at the Pontchartrain Convention Center in Kenner, La.

The Bomb Squad wrapped up the qualification matches ranked fourth. They were then selected for an alliance by the top-seeded team known as the Denham Venom from Denham Springs, La. The alliance later chose Fathom Robotics, a team representing six schools in Emerald Coast of northwestern Florida. The alliance was able to go undefeated through all the elimination rounds.

The Bomb Squad’s next competition will be April 16-19 when they compete in the FIRST World Championships at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
