The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) announced that Summer 2025 is breaking records with a nearly 30 percent increase in campsite reservations compared to 2024.
If you think 30 percent is impressive, the DCNR revealed that Trough Creek State Park along Raystown Lake saw an “extraordinary” 189 percent spike in reservations this year.
“Pennsylvanians and visitors alike are embracing the outdoors like never before,” DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said. “With increased demand for camping, we encourage everyone to plan ahead and take advantage of the many beautiful sites still available.”
In addition to Trough Creek State Park, the DCNR also revealed that Prince Gallitzin, Bald Eagle and Greenwood Furnace are seeing major spikes as families get ready to enjoy a summer of boating, fishing and swimming.
As federal parks may experience issues with staffing shortages, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his team worked to make sure state parks are ready for the influx of families looking to enjoy the great outdoors.
