Following a tough loss Friday night and bounce-back victory on Saturday, the Beavs had a lot to prove before sending the Anteaters home. They started off strong in the 3rd inning, bringing in three runs and taking the early lead.
UC Irvine answered back with a homer to right center by Anthony Martinez, trimming the lead to 3-1. But Oregon State kept putting pressure on with a Gavin Turley double to left center to drive in Aiva Arquette.
Irvine made things interesting in the 6th, getting within one run, but Oregon State responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning, with Arquette hitting a clutch two-RBI single to score Carson McEntire and Canon Reeder. Easton Talt also brought in a score, increasing the lead to 7-3.
UC Irvine would add another run in the 7th, but OSU held on to win it 7-4, taking the series 2 games-to-1. They will hit the road for two weeks and hope to maintain their winning record until returning home April 21.
