Anderson County Public Safety (ACPS) announced the mandatory evacuation on social media around 3 p.m. on Sunday. Residents have until 6 p.m. on Sunday to leave areas that are at risk of flooding if they aren’t flooded already, as the Kentucky River rises beyond anticipated levels.
The announcement comes just a day after Anderson County fire crews
“This is a historic flooding event,” ACPS wrote. “Residents should understand that unknown impacts are expected at this time.”
For those impacted by flooding who need help relocating, public safety officials said to contact the Lawrenceburg 911 Dispatch Center at (502) 839-5125.
Anderson County officials said residents who stay amid the mandatory evacuation may have utilities shut off, and rescue teams might not be able to get to them in the event of an emergency.
