Eunice pedestrian dead after fatal car crash

EUNICE, La. (KLFY) — A Eunice man died after being involved in a single vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy 190 in St. Landry Parish on April 4, authorities said.

The crash claimed the life of Andre Phoenix, 47, of Eunice, authorities said.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Phoenix was walking in the left westbound lane of U.S. Hwy 190 then at the same time a vehicle traveling west in the left lane struck the pedestrian, authorities said.

Deputies said due to serious injuries, Phoenix died and the driver of the vehicle remained uninjured.

According to authorities, the driver was not suspected of being impaired and provided a voluntary breath sample, which revealed no alcohol impairment.

This crash remains under investigation.
