Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort is no longer on the market

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort is no longer set to hit the market.

On Friday, POWDR revealed it will indefinitely remain the owner and operator of the Central Oregon site. The company previously announced it planned to sell the popular skiing spot in August, in addition to two of its other resorts: Colorado’s Eldora Mountain and British Columbia’s SilverStar Mountain in British Columbia.

While the company failed to outline the “numerous factors involved in evaluating a sale,” a spokesperson reported some upcoming changes to the business.

“We’re excited to continue our stewardship of the resort and serve the Central Oregon community with truly one-of-a-kind skiing,” POWDR said in a statement. “To that end, we are working on the following improvements to Mt Bachelor: updating the power capability to the resort, finalizing the Advance Wood Energy facility, and offering a new program ‘Kids Ski Free’ for any dependent child 12 and under that can be added onto any adult unlimited or adult Outplay regular winter season pass. “

The company initially reported that finance firm JP Morgan Chase was slated to manage the Mt. Bachelor sale. According to the previous announcement, the decision to put the properties on the market was an effort to meet the goals of its founders and stakeholders.

POWDR had already reached an agreement in the sale of a fourth site, the Killington Resort, in the summer of 2024. Vermont Business Magazine reported that a group of locals bought the property and committed to allocating more than $30 million to improvements over two years.

Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort’s current season closes on Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 26.
