BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (April 4, 2025) – A Bloomington man was arrested late Sunday night after allegedly firing a gun at a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office drone during an incident involving trespassing and erratic behavior.
Deputies responded around 11:45 p.m. on March 31 to the 6400 block of South Fairfax Road after receiving reports of an unknown male screaming and cursing while walking on private property, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the property owner, who expressed concern about an abandoned building on the site. Authorities deployed a Sheriff’s Office unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to help survey the area.
While operating the drone, deputies observed a vehicle pull into the 6900 block of McCormick Lane, about three-tenths of a mile from the original scene. A man later identified as Issac Crouch, 36, of Bloomington, exited the vehicle and fired three rounds in the direction of the UAV, officials said.
Deputies detained Crouch at the scene. He reportedly told authorities he believed he was being stalked by drones and that he had been on the South Fairfax Road property looking for his dog.
Crouch was arrested on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a firearm, a Level 6 felony.
The Sheriff’s Office reminded the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
