Baton Rouge woman gets life sentence in 2022 murder
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge woman was sentenced to life in connection with a 2022 shooting death.
According to court records, Jermyne Lewis withdrew her former plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Markeisha Stone, 33, died from her injuries at a hospital after she was shot at an apartment complex on Jefferson Highway in October 2022.
Lewis and Dewayne Barfield, both 18, were identified as suspects and charged with second-degree murder in the case. Barfield pleaded not guilty in February 2023.
