Rockford woman accused of battering a pregnant victim; officer draws taser
Rockford woman accused of battering a pregnant victim; officer draws taser
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Shyla Avilla, 29, for battery of a pregnant woman, among other charges.

On April 2, around 10:30 p.m., officers were called to the 2100 block of Lamar Street for reports of two women fighting. A witness showed deputies were the incident was still happening.

Authorities drew their taser to break up the situation.

The victim started a Facebook Live to criticize Avilla, which resulted in the suspect breaking a window and entering the residence, according to court records.

A witness told officials she told Avilla the victim was pregnant. The suspect disregarded what the witness told her and continued attacking the woman, authorities reported.

Avilla is charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and domestic battery causing physical contact.
