Police: Man strangles Rockford woman, bites her

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Torrey Ristow, 19, for strangling and biting a woman while in a car, according to court records.

On April 2, around 3:45 p.m., authorities were called to the 5200 block of Village Court for a domestic incident. The situation was sparked by while the suspect and victim were in a car arguing, officers reported.

The victim told officials the incident escalated when he punched her in the chest, and she hit him back in self-defense.

Ristow proceeded to punch her several times in the face, strangle her and bite her on her on forearm, court documents showed.

The woman told police the suspect said he was going to kill her.

Witnesses broke up the attack, authorities reported.

Ristow told police the woman kicked him in the face. He denied all accusations against him, officers said.

Ristow is charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery causing strangulation.
