According to the PA Turnpike Commission, starting Thursday, April 3, traffic paces may occur in 20-minute periods on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to allow construction crews to conduct controlled blasting operations in the area.
Turnpike officials say the paces will begin at milepost 230.2 for eastbound traffic, the Harrisburg East Interchange for westbound traffic, and off the Turnpike on State Route 2017 (Lisburn Road).
The Commission says traffic will be reduced to 20-25 miles an hour to keep motorists and workers safe until the blasting is completed.
The work is part of a construction project to build access ramps at Milepost 238.24 on both the Eastbound and Westbound sides of the roadway, per the Commission.
Work will not be conducted during the Easter holiday weekend (April 17-21) and during the Spring Carlisle Auto Show (April 24-27) to minimize traffic impacts due to increased traffic volumes.
