KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Officers with the Kenner Police Department arrested a man in connection with a stabbing that left a woman wounded on Thursday, April 3.
The KPD reported that 21-year-old Junior Carrasco is accused of stabbing his girlfriend during an argument.
KPD officials said Carrasco and the victim got into an argument around 1 a.m. when he allegedly broke the windshield of her car, took out a knife and stabbed her multiple times.
The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Carrasco then allegedly left the area and barricaded himself inside his residence, causing the KPD to activate its SWAT team.
KPD officials said Carrasco surrendered to officers after several hours.
According to the KPD, Carrasco “is a confirmed member of the MS-13 gang, as documented in law enforcement databases.” KPD officials also said a detainer was issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after Carrasco was reportedly found to be undocumented.
Carrasco faces a charge of attempted murder.
