Gambling bill would allow sports betting, electronic games, more in Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama State Senator Greg Albritton released the legislation for a lottery and gambling plan Thursday.

The bill would create a lottery and legalize sports betting. It also would bring pari-mutuel betting, historical horse racing and electronic bingo to six locations around the state. Albritton would need 21 votes for it to pass the Senate.

The proposed bill would create the Alabama Gaming Commission, who would regulate, tax, and license all gaming activity.

  • The governor would enter into a compact with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
