Docs: Muncie man arrested for child porn possession

MUNCIE, Ind. — A man was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation into possession of child pornography, according to documents provided by Delaware County Courts.

Per the court documents, 21-year-old Andrew Price-Jetmore Schoettmer is preliminarily charged with possession of child pornography (Level 6 Felony) and possession of child porn depicting a child under the age of 12 (Level 5 Felony).

The docs indicate that this began with a cybertip reported on Jan. 27 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to the tip, a user on the platform Dropbox had uploaded a file of child sexual abuse material.

The account that had posted the file was tied to Schoettmer. Court docs said the Fishers Police Department obtained a search warrant regarding his data on Jan. 29, got subscriber and IP address data from Comcast on Feb. 3 and transferred data over to Indiana State Police on March 28.

That led to a search warrant being executed on Tuesday at Schoettmer’s Muncie home, followed by his arrest, according to court docs.

In an interview with police, Schoettmer confirmed that he is a Comcast user and that one of his email addresses matched the one provided in the cybertip. He also confirmed that this email was the one used for his Dropbox account.

However, court documents state that Schoettmer denied having child pornography in his Dropbox, telling police, “it could have been hacked.”

Schoettmer reportedly did not know why his Dropbox account was suspended. Per the docs, he also admitted that neither of his email addresses had been hacked.

Police then told Schoettmer that the child porn file was originally in the MP4 format, but was later changed to a JPEG file.

Schoetmtmer was told “…Someone had to interact with that file that contained [child porn] and move it over to his Dropbox account,” the documents detail.

Schoettmer was placed on a $10,000 bond Tuesday night. As of this article’s publication, he has since been released.

The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office will make final decisions on what, if any, official charges Schoettmer will receive.
