Auto theft suspects jump into pond during police pursuit

(WPHL)– Pennsylvania State Police have successfully apprehended four auto theft suspects after they jumped into a pond and tried to escape during a police pursuit in Delaware County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were dispatched to assist several local Delaware County Police Departments involved in a vehicle pursuit.

The suspects involved in the pursuit had reportedly stolen a Dodge Durango and several other vehicle break-ins throughout the county.

Prospect Park Police Department officers were able to locate the stolen Dodge and initiated a police pursuit in Tinicum Township.

The chase ended on SR-291 when the suspects crashed the car, exited the vehicle, and jumped into the pond, trying to escape from police.

Local police and troopers created a perimeter around the pond and subsequently arrested all four suspects without incident.
