April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and to raise awareness, SPD Youth Services Bureau will host the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign kickoff. This initiative emphasizes the importance of raising awareness, promoting prevention, and advocating for the safety and well-being of children in the area.
According to the National Institute of Health, approximately one in four children experience child abuse or neglect in their lifetime. Of matreated children, 18% are abused physically, 78% are neglected, and 9% are abused sexually. The Pinwheels for Prevention campaign kickoff will be held on Thursday, April 4, at the Caddo Parish Juvenile Courthouse, starting at 11:00 a.m.
