Beshear joins lawsuit over Trump administration cuts to health departments

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — Kentucky is one of 23 states suing the federal government over 11 billion dollars in lost COVID funding.

Gov. Andy Beshear said the president can’t ignore laws passed by Congress, calling the cuts a threat to public health.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The lawsuit claims the move could shut down local programs for disease tracking, vaccinations, and mental health services.

The Trump administration argues the funding is no longer needed now that the pandemic is over.

No court date has been set.
