Allen County High School student was allegedly shown nude images of school employees

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — An Allen County Schools staff member has been charged after a student was reportedly shown nude images in the classroom.

On Tuesday, April 1, a student reported that 25-year-old Kerston Raines showed them text messages between Raines and another high school teacher that contained nude photos of both staff members.

In an interview with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Raines allegedly admitted to exchanging pictures of each other’s “private areas” with a male teacher.

According to an arrest citation, Raines’ laptop syncs with her cellphone, and she often leaves it open. Students also reportedly would have had the opportunity to use Raines’ cellphone to choose music to listen to in class and may have accessed the images either way.

She allegedly told the deputy she did not show the student these pictures intentionally.

In a statement, Allen County Schools Superintendent Travis Hamby said Raines would be placed on leave pending further investigation.

“We are aware of a situation involving an employee of Allen County Schools. The district takes such matters seriously and is currently gathering information. While the individual has not yet been available for comment, the employee will be placed on leave pending further investigation, in accordance with district policies. Because this is a personnel matter, and out of respect for the individual’s rights and due process, we are unable to provide additional details at this time,” Hamby wrote.

Raines was charged with distribution of obscene matter to minors and lodged in the Allen County Detention Center.

Jail records show she was released on Tuesday after posting 10% of a $10,000 cash bond.
