Alize Smith, 27, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Hintt and sons, 7-year-old Benjamin and 5-year-old Sebastian. Their bodies were found on Dec. 19, 2021, inside their Union Avenue Home.
According to prosecutors, Smith and Hintt were involved in selling marijuana and Smith owed the other $10,000 at the time Hintt and his boys were killed.
Smith was seen exiting their home that same day just after noon, taking the Ring doorbell off the door.
Prosecutors said that a person was seen driving Hintt’s stolen truck on a Chicago tollway. The next day, Smith went to meet a friend in Michigan who later turned him in and called the police. He was arrested on December 21, 2021.
Smith, of Huntley, was charged with the crime in January 2022.
His trial was initially set for March 3rd, 2025, and has now been rescheduled to begin on April 25th.
