Laurel County deputies said dispatch was called just before 8 p.m. about a domestic violence complaint at the 400 block of Morentown Road by a woman hiding in a closet. Dispatchers told deputies that a Timothy Pilkin, 38, was fleeing in a purple truck.
As deputies were arriving, the purple truck came around the corner and almost crashed into them at a high speed, according to an arrest citation. Despite turning on the police lights and siren, Pilkin allegedly continued around the corner with his tires squealing.
The sheriff’s office said Pilkin blew through a stop sign near KY Highway 80 and sped through a red light at the intersection of KY 80 and KY Highway 30, tires still squealing before stopping. Pilkin then reportedly surrendered without further incident.
In the citation, deputies noted that he smelled like alcohol and he had pinpoint eyes, slurred speech, and watery eyes. Pilkin told deputies he drank two “Natty Daddys.”
Records show that Pilkin had four previous DUI charges, and his driver’s license was suspended. Pilkins was noted as having a blood alcohol level of 1.00.
The sheriff’s office said he was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center and charged with:
Court documents show that he is being held on a $25,000 cash bond and is due to appear in court at 11 a.m. on April 8.
