Philadelphia police arrested 12 individuals, 11 of whom are juveniles, who they believe were attending the event on Broad Street at Cecil B. Moore Avenue. They were cited for various violations including failure to disperse and disorderly conduct.
Detectives said the shooting occurred in a parking lot next to an alley by the venue, which was hosting an EID event to mark the end of Ramadan. Hundreds of people were in attendance. Many attendees were outside of the building when shots were fired.
Police said Philadelphia and Temple University officers who were already on the scene because they were working the event, immediately responded to the teen who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm. They rushed him to the hospital and was last listed as “Stable.”
After the shooting, police said additional Philadelphia officers were called to the scene to manage the large crowds. Investigators said multiple fights broke out and groups of people were crisscrossing the streets.
Detectives are using surveillance footage from cameras that were mounted around the building. The investigation is on-going.
