PSP: Wrong way driver strikes, kills motorcyclist on Pennsylvania Turnpike

HOFFMAN, Pa. (WHTM) — A Pennsylvania man was killed when state troopers say he was struck by a wrong-way driver on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 9 a.m.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said the 50-year-old Bristol man, whose name has not yet been released, was riding a motorcycle northbound on the Northeast Extension in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

He was part of a group of six motorcycles when a wrong-way driver struck his bike.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a 24-year-old New Jersey woman was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when she struck the motorcyclist.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike was closed northbound at the Lehigh Valley exit until about 1 p.m.

State troopers are investigating and any witnesses are asked to call the State Police Troop T Pocono Station at 570-443-9511.
