Impairment suspected in Marrero fatale motorcycle crash: LSP

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Marrero man is dead following a crash over the weekend, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Troopers reported that around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, they responded to the scene of a crash on Louisiana Highway 45 near Pritchard Road in Marrero.

An investigation revealed 51-year-old Ronald Arnaud Jr. was headed south on the highway on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he reportedly ran off the road into a ditch.

Troopers said Arnaud was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was ejected from the bike suffering sever injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation while toxicology samples are being tested as troopers say impairment may have been a factor in the incident.

“Most importantly, never drive impaired- alcohol, drugs, or even certain medications can severely impair judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it dangerous for everyone. Remember, if you feel different, you drive different. Prioritize safety and consider enrolling in the Department of Public Safety’s motorcycle training courses, ranging from beginner to advanced,” said LSP Troop B.
