Julian Parker made the announcement on Monday, March 31 to join current Sheriff Susan Hutson and retired New Orleans Police Department officer and former Interim Superintendent, Michelle Woodfork in the race.
“With extensive experience in the legal system and a deep understanding of law enforcement, Parker is prepared to bring strong leadership and integrity to the sheriff’s office,” according to Parker’s team.
According to Ballotpedia, Parker was elected to the district court in 1996 working on cases involving economic and social damage by natural disasters, until his retirement in 2014.
Parker is expected to formally announce his run and discuss his “vision for the sheriff’s office” on Tuesday, April 1 on the courthouse steps at 2700 Tulane Ave.
