PRESTONSBURG, KY (WOWK) — The severe storms that ripped through eastern Kentucky early Monday morning has closed the Floyd County Schools Central Office.

The school system offices are now located in the old Allen Central High School.

The Allen Central High School Gymnasium suffered extensive damage to its roof and entrance, according to a Floyd County Schools’ Facebook post.

FEMA had been stationed in the gymnasium as part of the recovery effort following recent flooding. The social media post said Floyd County Schools is actively looking for a suitable location to relocate FEMA so the agency can continue the flood recovery efforts.
