Traffic Stop Results in Marijuana Possession Arrest
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., APSO patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop on Louisiana Highway 1 near Dr. Childress Drive in Marksville after observing a driver commit multiple traffic violations.
The driver, identified as Christopher Logan Poole of Cheneyville, Louisiana, was operating a blue 2008 Toyota truck. Deputies detected the odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle, leading to an on-scene investigation. Probable cause was established, and Poole was arrested for traffic violations and possession of Schedule I drugs (marijuana – second offense).
Poole was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center No. 1 with a pre-set bond of $5,500. He posted bond on March 26, 2025.
Hit-and-Run Investigation Leads to Drug Arrest, Fugitive Apprehension
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., APSO Criminal Patrol and Crime Suppression deputies assisted Louisiana State Police in investigating a hit-and-run crash in the Fifth Ward area.
The suspect vehicle, a black 2003 BMW Z4 sedan, was located traveling south on Louisiana Highway 1 near Center Street in Marksville with heavy damage consistent with a hit-and-run accident. APSO and Marksville Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Owen Arthur Hebert of Pineville, Louisiana.
During the investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered suspected marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Further inquiry revealed that Hebert was a wanted fugitive by the Pineville Police Department for felony charges.
Hebert was arrested and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center No. 1. He faces charges for hit-and-run driving, reckless operation with an accident, possession of Schedule I drugs (marijuana), possession of Schedule II drugs (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and an outstanding felony warrant for battery of a dating partner by strangulation and theft of $1,000-$5,000.
His bond was set at $10,000, and as of this release, he remains incarcerated.
Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine Possession Arrest
Later that night, at approximately 10:54 p.m., APSO Criminal Patrol and Crime Suppression deputies conducted a traffic stop on Acton Street in Marksville after observing multiple traffic violations committed by the driver of a black BMW sedan.
The driver, identified as Spencer Wayne Rogers of Gray, Louisiana, was found in possession of methamphetamine (a Schedule II controlled substance). He was arrested and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center No. 1 for traffic violations and possession of Schedule II drugs.
Rogers’ bond was set at $5,000, which he posted on March 27, 2025.
All individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
