Assumption Parish voters approve drainage fee renewal in March 29 election

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Voters in Assumption Parish approved a proposed renewal of a drainage and flood protection fee during the March 29 election.

About the proposition:

The Bayou Pierre Part North Gravity Drainage District Proposition asked residents to vote yes or no on whether to renew an annual $50 fee on each lot within the district for a period of 10 years, beginning in 2025 and ending in 2034.

The fee collection is expected to raise approximately $700 per year to fund the following:

  • Construction and maintenance of levees
  • Levee drainage
  • Flood protection
  • Hurricane flood protection
