Mississippians encouraged to prepare for more severe weather

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Many communities in Mississippi are still cleaning up from severe weather this month, but another round of storms are still on the way.

Brian Grantham, the director of Emergency Management for Rankin County, said April is peak severe weather season in the state. He doesn’t want Mississippians to take severe weather lightly.

“The very next storm could be the one that does damage to your home or to your city or the area that you live in. So, we want people to always take the news, the weather seriously or to have a plan to be prepared,” Grantham stated.

The Rankin County Safe Room is located on Marquette Road in Brandon. It will open once a tornado watch has been issued.
